Toilet troubles happen to the best of us, no matter what circumstance. Here are some tips to keep ‘er regular during these not so regular circumstances:
  1. Let’s get that water flowin’! Not wine, not margaritas, or any of the other fantastic drinks that everyone has been enjoying throughout their all-day “happy hour” whilst quarantining. Yes, wining and dining is definitely one way to pass the time, but don’t forget that it can also work against your digestive system because alcohol is a diuretic. Constipation is a symptom of dehydration. We are not suggesting giving up your brewski or bubbly but instead throw in a glass of water between every glass of liquid courage. Water makes up 75% of your stool, so if you are struggling to go, it may be because you are low on that H2O.
  2. It’s time for a sweat session! Get your heart going, diaphragm pumping and muscles working. As easy as a 15-minute home workout or a jog with some stretches to start your day off strong and assist in keeping things regular. Bouts of movement, no matter how small, can make a big impact on your overall health. On top of many other health benefits, walking or other low-intensity rhythmic activities stimulate bowel movements. Put the remote down and get off your couch to take a stroll around the block, or around the house. If you’re already walking around the house, you might as well hold a vacuum while you’re at it – two birds, one stone 😉 
  3. *Opens the fridge for the 10th time in the past 10 minutes* Bored? Hungry? Love your body and practice some self-care by trying out some new recipes! Cooking and baking can be therapeutic and a great way to pass the time. A great way to love your body is to feed it nutrient-dense foods that also taste amazing. Aim for high fibre recipes to increase satiation, regulate bowel movements and improve gut health. Cooking may not be everyone’s forte, but what better time than now to try something new? Best case scenario: you can proudly eat something of your own creation. Worst case: you support a small business by ordering delivery if things don’t work out.
